Forecastle
The forecastle (fo'c's'le) is found ahead of the forward flight deck and is the most forward part of the ship. The main components of the fo'c's'le are the two 4,5 ton anchors and the capstans. The capstans are used by the fo'c's'le party when bringing the ship alongside the quay. The gunnery officer and his/her department are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the fo'c's'le.
