After months at sea and on foreign land SAS DRAKENSBERG crew
is happy to be home. DKB came alongside in Simon’s Town at
approximately 1030B on Tuesday 24 April 2007, the same day
she was launched in 1986... |

MAXEKE, leaving her behind so that SAS DRAKENSBERG can be

RAS Exercise with SAS CHARLOTTE MAXEKE. On Monday 16 Apr, a RAS exercise,
which lasted for approximately 3 hours, between DKB
and CME was conducted. This was the first time a
Type 209 submarine conducted a RAS with the DKB... |

When DKB slipped from Rota in Spain, SAS CHARLOTTE
MAXEKE (CME) was approximately 400 Nm ahead and DKB had to
catch up with her as quickly as possible... |

Passage to SA has started. Both DKB and SAS CHARLOTTE MAXEKE were scheduled to
start with the transit to Simon’s Town on Saturday (31
March) but due to unforeseen circumstances the DKB had to
stand fast and let the sub start the passage on her own... |

commissioning and naming ceremony of the last two SA Navy

Fährt Heim Nach Südafrika - Going home to
South Africa. The crewmembers of the
second South African Navy submarine S102 have been deployed
in Germany from September 2006. On Friday, 16 March 2007
they will set sail back home to South Africa. |

Sitrep 01. OPERATION SIYAKHULA underway.
SAS DRAKENSBERG (DKB) was charged to participate in
Operation Siyakhula. “Siyakhula” is a Zulu phrase that
simply means, “We are growing up”. Now the Operation
Siyakhula is underway where DKB will escort the second
Submarine (S 102) to South Africa... |
