SAS DRAKENSBERG home at last!

Article and Photos by AB Manku Baloyi

After months at sea and on foreign land SAS DRAKENSBERG crew is happy to be home. DKB came alongside in Simon’s Town at approximately 1030B on Tuesday 24 April 2007, the same day she was launched in 1986. On 09 February 07, family and friends gathered on the DKB to bid farewell to their loved ones and months later they were reunited.

The SA Navy Band played their enticing melodies to welcome DKB back home.

By 1115B the crewmembers were disembarking and running straight into the arms of their loved ones. There were tears of joy everywhere and all were so happy to see each other again.

Family and Friends of the crew members came in their numbers to welcome them back home.

Hugs were all around as everyone was happy to sea their loved ones again.

We wish DKB calm seas and fair winds for many more years to come as she turned 21 on this day!!
