4 Super Lynx 300 maritime helicopters

The South African navy will be acquiring four Super Lynx 300 maritime helicopters from AgustaWestland for deployment aboard their MEKO A200-SA Navy patrol corvettes.

The first aircraft are expected to be delivered in mid 2007.

Service ceiling: 15 750ft (4 800m)
Range: 297nm (550 km)
Role/Weapons systems: Support helicopter, allocated by SAAF for naval duties and can be embarked in Drakensberg, Outeniqua and Agulhas
Sensors: Doppler navigation some with search radar
Weapons: Unarmed but can mount ARMSCOR 300mm Rattler

LAND BASED MARITIME AIRCRAFT

5 Douglas Jet Prop DC-3 AMI


Douglas Jet Prop DC-3 AMI

Operational speed: 161 kts (298 km/h)
Service ceiling: 24 000 ft (7 315m)
Range: 1 390 nm (2 575 km)
Sensors: Elta M-2022 search radar and FLIR. Sysdel ESM; sonobouy acoustic processor.
Operational. A number of Dakota DC-3 aircraft have been converted for maritime rescue/search and rescue tasks. Additional fuel tanks will extend their range to 2 620 nm (4 800 km). The aircraft remain unarmed.
