Upon arrival the SANDF Exercise Director, Brig Gen G.W. Lategan, accompanied by the Joint Task Force Commander, Capt (SAN) H.T. Matsane, visited the Prefecture (Presidency) of La Reunion. In keeping with Naval tradition, the SANDF Exercise Director presented the Prefect with a springbok skin.

The next stop for the Exercise Director and Joint Task Force Commander was a courtesy call to the FAZSOI Exercise Director, Brig Gen E. Vidaud onboard the French Multi Mission ship, FS Champlain. The two Exercise Directors then hosted a Media Briefing on-board the FS Champlain.

The day ended off with a Cocktail function on-board SAS AMATOLA where RSA and French forces were given an opportunity to socialize before the commencement of the Exercise OXIDE.
