The SA Navy conducts a career workshop in Dundee

On 9-12 October 2012, the SA Navy was called to conduct a career briefing to the schools Endumeni community in Dundee, kwazulu Natal. The briefing covered various careers in the SA Navy including the reserve forces. The Mayor of Endumeni Municipality, His Excellency Cllr T M Mahaye blessed this occasion by giving a key note address to the learners present.

The learners were welcomed by the Municipal Manager, Mr T. P. Biyela who encouraged all the leaners present to listen and pay attention to what was being presented to them. Capt H.T. Morake also welcomed the learners and gave them a brief over view of the day before he handed to Director Naval Personnel, R Adm (JG) A.E. Kubu, who pointed out to the leaners that the SA Navy is a career opportunity and not just a job, as it needs a person with passion to fulfil daily tasks on his/her specified career.

SLt P.M Kuhlase and PO T. Selepe conducted the presentations to the leaners about the various careers in the SA Navy as Cdr O Pfuhl handled the questions about the reserve forces. Simultaneously Lt F.T. Selhako was also present to explain what the (Maritime Reaction Squadron) MRS entails and what do they do on a daily basis.

The learners interacted well with the SA Navy personnel that were present as they asked relevant questions about the various careers in the SA Navy and the SANDF as a whole. There were nine schools in total and some FET colleges who attended this briefing from Tuesday until Friday.

The Department of Education together with some other councillors and the Deputy Mayor were also present to observe as the learners absorbed the information presented to them by the SA Navy.

The Peoples Navy is thankful to the Endumeni Municipality and the Department of Education for the opportunity to let them present to the schools in Dundee.
