Exercise IBSAMAR is a
trilateral exercise between the Indian, Brazilian and
South African Navies. The time for exercise IBSAMAR has
finally arrived with the arrival of the Indian Navy. The
Brazilian Navy who participated in exercise ATLASUR have
extended their stay for exercise IBSAMAR. It is a
naval/maritime (IBSAMAR) interaction and co-operation by
the three countries, spanning two oceans and comprising
of shared objectives.

Plaques handed out between R Adm (JG) D.M. Mkhonto (FOC)
and the representatives
The SA Navy is continually
forging and maintaining its relations with many Navies
around the world. For this reason, courtesy calls are
held to establish good communication and awareness
between the various navies. On 10 October 2012 two
courtesy calls for exercise IBSAMAR were made to R Adm
P. Schoultz Flag Officer Fleet (FOF) and R Adm (JG) D.M.
Mkhonto Flag Officer Commanding (FOC). Officers from the
Argentinean, Brazilian, Indian and South African ships
were present at both courtesy calls. They discussed
exercise ATLASUR as well as exercise IBSAMAR, clarifying
details about the exercise ahead of them.
Plaques were handed out to R
Adm P. Schoultz (FOF) and R Adm (JG) D.M. Mkhonto (FOC)
by the various representatives of the visiting
countries. The courtesy calls ended with R Adm (JG) D.M.
Mkhonto (FOC) wishing the visiting officers well on
their way and that they would have a successful
exercise.
