On 23 and 24 Aug 2012 the women at SAS WINGFIELD celebrated women’s month in style. The theme for this year was “women of the world”. This year SAS WINGFIELD’s women celebrated their femininity with all women around the world, whether you are a housewife, a Supreme Court judge or a women working in the rice fields in China, SAS WINGFIELD women honoured them all.

The day started with a prayer from the Padre and a welcome by the XO, and then table by table women were encouraged to write songs, poems, and perform dances of different women around the world. This part of the day was so inspirational, women dancing, laughing and singing together.

All roads then lead to the Auction Center for a dance treat, young and old lined up on high heels and flat shoes to learn Line Dancing. After a few steps dancing to the Line Dance beat the mood was electrifying, hips swinging and stepping all in the name of fun.

After a delicious brunch all the ladies started with scrapbook photo frame making. Even though the women were all dressed up, they did not mind working with paint glue and different papers to complete their project. Each lady was given a photo for their scrap book.

On the following day, all of SAS WINGFIELD’s women got on a bus to the Waterfront to board a ferry to Robben Island. They were blessed with a beautiful sunny day. The ferry to Robben Island was an enjoyable experience as the ladies sat on board enjoying the sea breeze and the amazing view of Table Mountain.

On the Island the ladies boarded a bus and were taken on the historic tour of the island, their journey was an emotional roller coaster as there were some sad, interesting and exciting moments. Getting to hear and see where our previous beloved former president Nelson Mandela spent 27 years was sad and also amazing. After an interesting insightful tour they returned to the Waterfront for lunch.

Ladies having a great time

After two amazing days SAS WINGFIELD ladies are motivated and empowered as all women around the world.
