The personal staff to Flag Officer Fleet undertook a visit to TEARS (The Emma Animal Rescue Society) to help with handy-work in and around their Masiphumelele premises on 18 July 2012. The maintenance work included painting the animal clinic, gardening, walking the dogs, folding blankets as well as washing hundreds of dog bowls in time for the next feeding.

TEARS is a Pro-life, non-profit organisation whose core aim is to rescue, rehabilitate, re-unite and re-home lost, abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats. The facility currently has approximately 100 dogs that are waiting to be adopted by loving families. The Flag Officer Fleet team strongly supports this organisation and the work they are doing in the local community and encourage all naval members to do the same.
