On Wednesday, 18 July 2012, the Hydrographic Office teamed up with members of 526 Squadron and Silvermine, in order to make a change in the lives of the young children of the Emmanuel Educare School in Westlake. The contingent raised funds and obtained various sponsorships. The 180 young children ranging from 3 to 6 years of age enjoyed the sponsored treats.

Members from the Hydrographic Office assisted in beautifying the school’s newly erected play yard. This included the cleaning and painting of the crawl pipes and moving equipment to its appropriate stowage.

The volunteers were entertained by the school children with a play that included a variety of scenes as presented by the different age group classes after all the hard work was completed.

Capt Kampfer explained the involvement of the volunteers on the day and thanked the children for the excellent performance during the school play. He also encouraged the school staff to continue their hard work and efforts and emphasized the important role they play in the lives of the children. Members from 526 Squadron also presented the school mistress with a new urn, which would come in handy in the day-to-day running of the school.
