The
excitement in East London hit fever pitch with the
return of the ever popular Port Festival at the East
London Harbour from 23 – 24 June. With the arrival of
SAS AMATOLA and SAS GALASHEWE to Buffalo City on 21 June
2012 it was sure going to be a fantastic weekend ahead.

Courtesy call to the Deputy Mayor's office
The Navy
delegation comprising Officers Commanding paid a
courtesy visit to the Deputy Mayor of the Buffalo
Metropolitan Mr Msoki. Later in the day the Deputy Mayor
and other stakeholders were invited to the Wardroom of
SAS AMATOLA for a luncheon onboard. As promised, the
weekend turned out to be explosive and left the East
London crowd begging for more. Saturday 23 June the
South African Navy showed their excellence in drilling
through precision drill as they marched on the main
street of East London and left the crowd with mouthfuls
of praise.
The Navy
exercised its right of entry by marching through the
streets of East London. It was all tools down for East
London people as they filled up the East London Harbour
to experience the excitement of the Port Festival. There
were long queues with people looking forward to go on
board the SAS AMATOLA and SAS GALASHEWE, to view the
precision drill that was performed by Naval Station
Durban and to see the excellence of the Navy Band. To
top it all was a breathtaking fireworks show!
Recruitment
was there for some assistance to those who wanted to
apply to the Navy. To close the festival South African
Navy Band gave a performance that the crowds will never
forget.
