PNS SHAHJAHAN, a Destroyer,
and PNS MOAWIN, a Combat Support Ship, visited the Port
of Durban over the period 18 to 21 October 2010. The
purpose of the visit was for rest and relaxation (R &
R).

The objectives of this visit
were to maintain the SA Navy’s international contact
with the Pakistani Navy and to enhance contact between
the Pakistani Navy and the local South African
community.
A Diplomatic Reception was
hosted onboard PNS MOAWIN on 20 October 2010. The
reception was attended by the Chief Whip of the
Ethekwini Municipality and the Pakistani High
Commissioner. R Adm (JG) P.T. Duze represented Chief of
the SA Navy.
The Pakistani ships were
open to the public and the local community turned out in
numbers to view these beautiful vessels. Friendships
were forged and, for others, old friendships renewed.
