The Korean 60th Anniversary Memorial Service

A small and intimate memorial service was held on 27 August 2010 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Korean War. The war broke out on 25 June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea.

The memorial service was held in Cape Town by the ships company of the Republic of Korea ship WANG GOEN in honour of the sacrifice made by those who defended their peace and freedom.

The wreath laid in front of the memorial

The members marched on and formed a square in front of the War Memorial. They then bowed their heads as a symbol of respect according to their culture and the members paid homage by laying a wreath and flowers in front of the statue.

On completion of the ceremony the ship's company was marched off.
