Naval Base Simon’s Town has once again received an award for selling the highest number of Casual Day stickers in the SANDF. The Base has won the award consecutively for the past 5 years.

Casual Day is one of the largest fund raising campaigns in South Africa. The campaign helps to create awareness and to raise funds for people with disabilities. The SANDF and the SA Navy in particular have been actively involved in the campaign for a number of years and have managed to raise large amounts of money towards the cause.

Nationally, the campaign raised R17,7 million for the year 2009 with Naval Base Simon’s Town contributing R15 450 of that amount. 2010 will be the 16th year that Casual Day is celebrated in South Africa, making it the longest running project of its kind in the country. The goal for 2010 is to collect R20 million.

We encourage everyone to once again purchase Casual Day stickers this year and thus help to make the campaign’s goal of R20 million a reality.
