On Thursday, 29 October 2009, the SA Navy played a cricket match against the Armscor Executive Team at the Castle sports field in Erasmuskloof. The match started at 13:00 and with much anticipation both teams met at the sports field.

The two teams

The Chief Executive Officer of Armscor, Mr S. Thomo, and Chief of the SA Navy, V Adm J. Mudimu, were unable to participate due to unforeseen commitments. The captains of the teams, R Adm (JG) E. Kubu representing the SA Navy side and Mr Smith for the Armscor side, were briefed by the umpire on the rules of the game.

The match was going well until the rain decided to save the Armscor team from our best batsman, R Adm B.H. Teuteberg. The umpires decided the match would be a draw as a result of the rain.

The day concluded with a prize-giving function that led to supper and drinks for the job well done by the two teams.
