On Thursday 05 November 2009, fifty delegates from the Army Support Base Western Cape (ASBWC) Formation Headquarters and various other regions visited the SA Navy. The visit was in line with a Command Cadre Conference (CCC) of the Army Support Formation, which took place from 01 – 06 November 2009.

The visit was an opportunity for the delegates to gauge the capabilities of the SA Navy because of its significant and strategic coastal positioning. The delegates kicked off the visit with a presentation by Captain C.R. Sharwood on the overview of the SA Navy at the IMT conference room. After being enlightened about the SA Navy, the delegates had an opportunity to experience first hand what the SA Navy is all about with a tour onboard SAS MENDI. After soaking up the sights and sounds of the Frigate, the group moved on to the submarine SAS CHARLOTTE MAXEKE.
