CPO R.J. Volminck and PO V.L.
O’Brien, from Naval Station Port Elizabeth, represented
the SA Navy at the Port Elizabeth (PE) Childline &
Family Career Workshop on 29 September 2009 at
Bloemendal, Port Elizabeth.

The aim of the workshop was to inform
the Grade 9 – 12 foster children of PE Childline and
Family Centre about the careers that they can pursue
after they complete Grade 12.
The SA Navy was one of the many state
departments that were invited to give presentations on
the various career choices. CPO R.J. Volminck gave a
presentation which focused on the following topics: ‘Why
do we need the Navy’, ‘Why we have a Navy’, ‘What does
the Navy do’ (primary tasks and secondary tasks) and
‘What does the Navy do during Peace Time’.
