The DOD took its recruitment campaign to the Western Cape this past weekend, focusing mainly on the rural areas, to ensure that they benefit from the career opportunities offered by the SANDF.

The recruitment drive at the Military Academy in SAS SALDANHA in the Western Cape on Friday 03 April 09, was targeted at grade 11 and 12 learners from various schools in the Saldanha Bay Municipality. This recruitment drive was repeated at Silamela High School at Kwalanga in Cape Town on Saturday, 04 April 09.

A big interest was shown in the Engineering and Technical career prospects which the SAN offers. The learners eagerly asked questions and paid attention to what was said by each representative from the various Arms of Service.

The primary aim of the MSD programme is to rejuvenate the SANDF, provide it with scarce skills as well as serve as a feeder system for the Defence Reserves. It is also seeking to alleviate the problem of scarce skills in the country as well as to provide the youth of the country with a head start in life.
