During the recent Regional Environmental Working Group conference, the RFIM Cape Town Environmental office held their annual Regional Environmental Awards Ceremony. The ceremony was held on 26 March 2009.

The RFIM Cape Town presented these awards to units within the Western Cape Region who performed exceptionally well during 2008. Units compete in various categories and the regional winners are thereafter promoted to compete with units on the national level.

AFB Langebaanweg recieves the Water Effiency Award	Lt N. Browning recieves the Base Environmental Management Award

Naval Base Simon’s Town once again walked away with the laurels for Environmental Education and Awareness as they did in 2005 and 2007. SAS SALDANHA won the award for Ecological Management whilst AFB LANGEBAANWEG took top spot for Water Efficiency. AFB OVERBERG won the won the award for Base Environmental Management as well as Integrated Environmental Management.
